Background and objectives

Winterhalter provides commercial warewashing solutions for the gastronomy catering sectors. Winterhalter was founded in 1947 in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. Headquartered in Meckenbeuren on Lake Constance and with over 1,200 employees worldwide, the owner-managed group is a global player in the commercial kitchen industry. Other production sites have been opened in Endingen (Germany) and Rüthi (Switzerland). Winterhalter is represented by subsidiaries or partners in more than 70 countries worldwide. In order to increase logistics efficiency, Winterhalter decided to create a central warehouse and dispatch hub at the Meckenbeuren site. In the past, goods were distributed across different locations and  service providers. All the more reason for Winterhalter to create a new, high-performance logistics hub of their own.

Implementation and challenge

MPS ARCHONIC were in charge of the requirements planning for a logistics hub and developed various solutions for the facility in Meckenbeuren. A feasibility study was prepared that included calculating the economic viability of various degrees of automation. The target alternative was then planned in detail including the warehouse technology and the logistics building requirements. MPS ARCHONIC completed the project by supporting and assisting in the awarding of contracts to the relevant warehouse technology providers.
